Enric Mas leads the GC after stage 12/13 by 1:45 over Primož Roglič (BORA-hansgrohe) and 2:06 over Felix Gall (Decathlon AG2R) (Cyclingnews, 4 Sep 2026). The stage 18 ITT (separately predicted: Roglič wins) could hand Roglič approximately 40–60 seconds; however, the remaining margin should be defensible for Mas in the mountain stages from stage 19 onward. Roglič has won the Vuelta three times and knows how to mount late attacks — the risk is real, but Mas holds climbing-specific advantages on the final ascents.
